The Vauxhall Astra is the most reliable best-selling fleet cars on the road, according to news put out by Warranty Direct at the start of April.

The automotive warranty specialist analysed the reliability of the 10 most popular fleet vehicles in Britain from 2009.

According to the survey 11 per cent of Astras suffered a failure once a year on average, costing £247.49 to repair. BMW's 3-Series was in second place with a 13 per cent failure rate, costing £316.19 and Ford's Fiesta was in third slot with a 19 per cent repair incidence,costing £187.36.

In joint fourth place was the VW Golf and Ford Focus with a 20 per cent incidence, costing £287.43 and £306.50 respectively.

One in 12 VW Golfs will suffer either cooling and heating, or electrical system failures, and while the Astra rarely breaks down, when it does its electrics are often to blame, causing 42 per cent of its failures.

The S-Max gets a re-sculpted bonnet, along with a new lower front bumper. The side windows are enhanced by a chrome strip around them. The rear gets a revised tailgate and new LED tail-lights, which are linked by a horizontal chrome strip.

The Galaxy also gets a revamped bonnet and a new grille with chrome detailing. There are new LED lights, too.

UK Car Discount has been running a survey into the online preferences of its visitors and hoping to get an insight that will allow them to tailor their service to meet customer requirements more.

Some of the research highlights were:

·         When buying a car, one of the most single influencing factors for online purchasers is the trustworthiness of the site, as stated by 55% of respondents in the UK Car Discount survey. Second by some distance was the choice of cars available, 28%

·         Most visitors to the UK Car Discount site were researching cars with a view to buy soon (50%), or in the process of selecting a new car to buy soon (28%)

·         74% were first time visitors with Google driving nearly two-thirds of the traffic to the site

·         82% thought the site was either very or fairly easy to navigate around, with only 9 people having a degree of difficulty in finding a car of interest to them

·         7 out of 10 respondents thought it was easy to find and configure the car they were looking for, which is encouraging for the UK Car Discount site design and usability.

UK Car Discount will be taking comments made about the site on-board and look to further improve their website over the next several months.
